The SEO Publishing Checklist We Use Before Every Release

Every avoidable ranking problem we have ever been called to fix was caught by one of these twelve lines. Most teams know them; few enforce them.

Written and maintained by the SEO Studio technical team · last reviewed October 2026 · methodology and SOP documentation

Before you hit publish

Metadata, canonical target, at least two meaningful internal links, compressed media with descriptive alt text, and valid structured data.

  • Unique title under sixty characters, description under 155
  • Self-referencing canonical, correct index directive
  • Structured data validates against the rich-result test

After you hit publish

Request indexing, confirm rendering has the content, then watch Search Console for coverage changes over the following seventy-two hours.

  • Inspect URL and request indexing
  • Confirm no accidental noindex survived from staging
  • Check mobile rendering of the live page

Questions people ask about seo publishing checklist

Why does my page take so long to appear?
New pages typically need days to be crawled and assessed. Requesting indexing helps discovery; ranking position then depends on usefulness signals accumulating.
What breaks most often?
Canonical targets inherited from staging environments, and noindex directives left in production templates after a release freeze.
Should every page carry FAQ schema?
Only where genuine question-and-answer content exists on the page. Marking up content that is not there is a structured-data violation.
